The Sylvania Historical Village is a collection of historic buildings located in the heart of downtown Sylvania, Ohio. These buildings form a one-of-a-kind timeline that spans the 1840’s to the 1940’s. The City of Sylvania invites you to step back in time as you wander through the beautiful gardens and the vintage buildings and exhibits that are featured at the Village.
Permanent collections include an 1840 log home that allows visitors to imagine what life was like for area pioneers. The Village also features a pre-1875 residence and a 1904 Sears catalog home that have been renovated into retail stores. A replica 19th century schoolhouse gives local elementary-age children the experience of learning in a one-room 1800's environment. One of downtown Sylvania's most popular special events venues - the Car Barn - is a reproduction of the center stalls of the car barn that served the Toledo & Western Interurban Railroad. When not in use for event rentals, it houses our 63-ton Locomotive and Caboose. Everywhere you look, the Historical Village is a shutterbug’s delight with wonderful photo opportunities in every nook and cranny of the Village grounds.
The Historic Village and Museum opens its season with school tours during September and continues through June. Group tours are also available by appointment.
