It what has become a summertime tradition, the Lathrop House will be the site of the fifth annual Celebration of Freedom on Saturday, August 4th. The afternoon features historical interpreters and reenactors, music, and children’s activities from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with tours of the house from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the celebration and enjoy the presentations given from the porch of the Lathrop House. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Celebration of Freedom is not only a way to highlight the beautiful history of this house as a station on the Underground Railroad, but also is an expression of gratitude to the northwest Ohio community for their support of this project”, says Sue McHugh of The Friends of the Lathrop House. “It is a wonderful family event, with historical interpreters and reenactors bringing history to life. Add some music and hot dogs fresh off the grill, and you have all the makings of a perfect summer afternoon.”

A note to our Sylvania Friends:  The date on the Sylvania City Events Calendar printed and mailed earlier this year was incorrect for this date.  The correct date is Saturday, August 4
